From everyday Singaporeans to kelong fishermen, Tembusu College undergraduates explored Singapore’s coastal communities, embarking on a semester-long ethnographic inquiry as part of the College’s Year 3 Senior Learning Experience. Research projects pursued by these Year 3 students span the social sciences, humanities, and STEM disciplines.
While the preference for texting is often associated with Gen-Zs, many adults across the different age groups have been observed to use text messaging for a large part of their communication. Dr Carol Soon, Principal Research Fellow, Head, Society and Culture, NUS Institute of Policy Studies - IPS discusses why some prefer to call while others prefer texting.

Negative reviews and fake reviews are a growing challenge. While companies may succeed in discrediting a specific review, the broader narrative of attempting to stifle criticism can have a lasting effect on consumer trust and loyalty. Dr Samer Elhajjar, Senior Lecturer from the Department of Marketing at the NUS Business School, remarks that companies should consider the long-term implications of legal action against negative reviews.
Assoc Prof (Practice) Terence Ho from the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at NUS contemplates whether excessive competition is impairing cooperation, making us collectively worse off or whether a lack of competition will blunt the drive for excellence and hinder progress. These are questions particularly pertinent to young Singaporeans as they seek success and fulfilment in a fast-changing society.
