IRO SELECTION CRITERIA
(IN ADDITION TO THE CRITERIA THAT HOST COMPANIES IMPOSE)

 
  • Obtained at least a CAP of 3.0 and above (3.5 for funding consideration).  Students who do not have CAP, e.g. LAW students, are eligible to apply. There is the possibility to consider a student’s application if CAP is not 3.0 and above provided they possess a strong resume and personal statement (Subject to Programme Manager’s discretion).
  • Resume
  • Personal statement (Inclusive of motivations/ objectives for embarking on the internship; description of activities the student would like to be involved in during the internship and how they would relate to the student’s career goals; contribution back to the community following internship)
  • All applicants would have to attend an interview with IRO.  The following are the general areas which IRO should be looking at on top of what the hosting companies have imposed:

    • Students’ leadership ability
    • Communication and interpersonal skills
    • Students’ aspirations and expectations on the job
    • Students’ overall fit to projection of NUS image
    • Students’ willingness to contribute back to the NUS community (Peer advising, developing student groups etc.)
